The increase in air traffic and passenger numbers, which started in the first months of last year with the decrease of the effect of the epidemic, continued in the first two months of 2023.

Compared to last year, significant increases were seen in the number of passengers hosted at Istanbul and Sabiha Gökçen airports in the first 2 months of this year.

Istanbul Airport, which was used by 7 million 44 thousand 318 passengers, 1 million 855 thousand 530 passengers domestic and 5 million 188 thousand 788 international passengers in the same period of the previous year, increased the number of passengers by 3 million 723 thousand 746 compared to the same period of the previous year.


5 million 204 thousand 29 passengers flew from Sabiha Gökçen Airport

Passenger increase at Istanbul airports reached 43 percent in 2 months

Airports in Istanbul, where 11 million 146 thousand 625 people traveled in the same period of last year, increased the number of passengers by 4 million 825 thousand 468 people in the same period of this year.


The number of flights also increased

Parallel to the number of passengers in the 2 months of this year, the number of flights at Istanbul airports also increased.

In the first 2 months of 2022, 18,602 domestic flights and 55,847 international flights were organized at Istanbul Airport. At the airport, where 52 thousand 663 flights were made in the first 2 months of last year, 74 thousand 449 flights were made in the same period of this year.

This increase was calculated as 41 percent at Istanbul Airport, where flights increased by 21 thousand 786 compared to last year.
