Eastern Black Sea Exporters Union Deputy Chairman of the Board Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan said that 332 tons of sea snails were exported to 4 countries in 2 months of the year from Turkey.

Stating that 3 million 279 thousand 143 dollars were gained from the foreign sales in question, Gürdoğan said, “In the same period of last year, 2 million 29 thousand 47 dollars were obtained from the export of 357 tons of sea snails. Accordingly, exports decreased by 7 percent in value and increased in value by 62 percent.” said.

Emphasizing that the most sea snails are exported to Japan with 1 million 337 thousand 650 dollars, Gürdoğan stated that this country is followed by the People’s Republic of China with 730 thousand 620 dollars, the Republic of South Korea with 722 thousand 594 dollars, and Spain with 488 thousand 279 dollars.

Pointing out that 49 percent of Turkey’s sea snail exports are made from the Black Sea, Gürdoğan noted that 152 tons of sea snails from the region were sold to Japan, the Republic of South Korea and the People’s Republic of China for 1 million 605 thousand 900 dollars.

Gürdoğan drew attention to the fact that the product in question provides a significant amount of foreign currency inflow, even though it is not consumed in the country.
