Turkish Statistical Institute announced the milk and dairy products production data for February.

In the statement, it was stated that due to the inability to obtain reliable data and information from the regions affected by the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, some temporary applications were made in the production of the said statistics.

In this context, according to the bulletin, the amount of collected cow’s milk increased by 0.5 percent on an annual basis in February and reached 793 thousand 384 tons.

The amount of collected cow’s milk increased by 2.5 percent in the January-February period compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 1 million 667 thousand 451 tons.

Drinking milk production made by commercial dairy enterprises increased by 11.9 percent in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 132 thousand 881 tons. In the January-February period, drinking milk production increased by 10.5 percent on an annual basis to 278 thousand 30 tons.

Yoghurt production by commercial dairy enterprises decreased by 1.6 percent in February compared to the same month of the previous year, and decreased to 82 thousand 542 tons. In the January-February period, it rose to 173 thousand 976 tons with an annual increase of 2.2 percent.

Cow cheese production increased by 3.6 percent annually to 58 thousand 917 tons in February, and increased by 10.2 percent to 122 thousand 370 tons in the January-February period.

In February, ayran production decreased by 5.8 percent to 52 thousand 216 tons, butter production decreased by 30 percent to 7 thousand 236 tons.

In the January-February period, buttermilk production increased by 3.5 percent to 113 thousand 632 tons, while butter production decreased by 24 percent to 14 thousand 907 tons.

The amount of cow’s milk collected by commercial dairy enterprises, which was 874 thousand 67 tons in January, decreased by 9.2 percent in February to 793 thousand 384 tons.

Drinking milk production, which was 145 thousand 149 tons in the same period, decreased by 8.5 percent to 132 thousand 881 tons.
