Moving in an upward trend in the first half of the day, the BIST 100 index rose 27.90 points to 5,120.78 as of 13:00, compared to the previous close. The total transaction volume amounted to 22.4 billion liras.
While the banking index gained 1.37 percent, the holding index lost 0.11 percent. Among the sector indices, mining was the highest earner with 9.55 percent, and the most declining was trade with 1.41 percent.
Analysts stated that global stock markets started the new week cautiously as questions about when central banks will end interest rate hikes.
Stating that the New York Fed manufacturing index will be followed in the US in the afternoon, analysts said that technically, the BIST 100 index 5.150 and 5.200 levels are resistance, 5.050 and 5,000 points are support.
