In the written statement made by the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), a stand was opened for the promotion of Turkish salmon at the DKİB’s Seafood Expo Global fair held in Barcelona on 24-27 April.
In the statement, it was stated that there was an interest in Turkish salmon at the fair, and the evaluations of Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of DKİB, were included.
Pointing out that Turkish salmon has been highly appreciated in foreign markets in recent years, Gürdoğan emphasized that exports are increasing every month in line with demand.
Noting that they participate in the aquaculture fair held in Spain every year in order to increase the brand awareness of the product in foreign markets, Gürdoğan drew attention to the fact that the regional companies attracted great interest in this year’s fair as well.
Gürdoğan stated that in order to meet the incoming demand, cage production areas in the seas should be increased rapidly and these areas should be allocated to companies that actively export.
Gürdoğan, who requested the construction of the old shipyard area of Sürmene Çamburnu, a Fisheries Organized Industrial Zone and the establishment of a salmon/trout fry production and hatching center next to it, stated that this should be implemented immediately.
