Nabati, Minister of Treasury and Finance, evaluated the workforce statistics for the first quarter of the year.
Emphasizing that the unemployment rate dropped to single digits for the first time on a quarterly basis, Minister Nebati said:
Our economy, which maintains its strong performance with the Turkish Economy Model, continues to create new job opportunities and to achieve a steady increase in employment.
Our total employment increased by 195 thousand people in the first quarter of this year compared to the previous quarter and reached 31.6 million people. Thus, while the unemployment rate fell to 9.9 percent, it dropped to single digits for the first time on a quarterly basis since the first quarter of 2018.
In the coming period, we will continue to grow without compromising our human and employment-oriented policies, and to offer brand new opportunities to our youth and people by strengthening our value-added and technology-intensive production.
