The Ministry’s Twitter account shared the news that the private sector will be allowed to import slaughter animals and carcass meat.
In the statement, it was emphasized that the news in some press and broadcasting organizations that a study was carried out to allow the importation of slaughter animals to the private sector by the Ministry did not reflect the truth, and the following was stated:
“According to our legislation, the task of regulating the red meat market and ensuring a balance in prices has been given only to the Meat and Milk Institution. When deemed necessary on the basis of producer costs and consumer satisfaction, the regulation activity will be carried out by the Meat and Dairy Authority, and it is not possible to give permission to the private sector for the import of slaughter animals and carcass meat.“
