The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures for May.

Accordingly, the change in CPI was 0.04 percent in May compared to the previous month, 15.26 percent compared to December of the previous year, 39.59 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and 63.72 percent according to the twelve-month averages.

The main group that showed the least increase compared to the same month of the previous year was clothing and shoes with 19.49 percent. On the other hand, the main group with the highest increase compared to the same month of the previous year was restaurants and hotels with 68.98 percent.

In terms of main expenditure groups, the main group that showed the least increase in May compared to the previous month was housing with -13.79 percent. On the other hand, the main group with the highest increase compared to the previous month was clothing and shoes with 9.85 percent.

As of May, out of 143 main headings covered in the index, the index of 25 main headings decreased, while the index of 8 main headings remained unchanged. There was an increase in the index of 110 basic titles.

The change in the CPI excluding unprocessed food products, energy, alcoholic beverages and tobacco and gold was 3.60 percent compared to the previous month, 19.51 percent compared to December of the previous year, 47.70 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and ten percent. According to the two-month averages, it was 60.94 percent.


Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) increased by 40.76 percent annually and 0.65 percent monthly

In May, D-PPI increased by 0.65 percent compared to the previous month, by 7.81 percent compared to December of the previous year, by 40.76 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and by 95.80 percent according to the twelve-month averages.

Annual changes in the four sectors of the industry; an increase of 56.84 percent in mining and quarrying, 42.34 percent in manufacturing, 0.53 percent in electricity and gas production and distribution, and 66.27 percent in water supply.

Annual changes of the main industrial groups; 35.82 percent in intermediate goods, 49.10 percent in durable consumer goods, 64.92 percent in non-durable consumer goods, 9.62 percent in energy and 49.97 percent in capital goods.

Monthly changes in the four sectors of the industry; 1.66 percent increase in mining and quarrying, 1.26 percent increase in manufacturing, 7.36 percent decrease in electricity and gas production and distribution, and 0.71 percent increase in water supply.

Monthly changes of main industrial groups; 1.06 percent increase in intermediate goods, 2.57 percent increase in durable consumer goods, 2.57 percent increase in non-durable consumer goods, 6.67 percent decrease in energy and 3.09 percent increase in capital goods.
