According to the “Turkey Electronic Communications Industry Market Data Report” prepared by the Information Technologies and Communications Authority of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the electronic communications industry continues to progress based on broadband internet.
While both fixed and mobile high-speed internet continue to be in demand, this triggers infrastructure investments, data speeds and the amount of data used are increasing.
Net sales increased by 41.1% compared to the previous year
As of the end of last year, operators in the electronic communications sector had net sales exceeding 130 billion liras. This figure increased by 41.1 percent compared to the previous year.
The total amount of investments made by the operators last year increased by 42.7 percent compared to the previous year and reached 31.1 billion liras from 21.8 billion liras.
Türk Telekom and mobile operators’ investments increased by 48.7 percent in the same period, reaching approximately 22.3 billion liras. Other than these, the investment amounts of the operators were calculated as approximately 8.8 billion liras.
The number of mobile subscribers reached 90.3 million
Subscribers’ interest in mobile technologies continues to develop rapidly in Turkey as well as in the world.
As of the end of last year, the number of mobile subscribers reached 90.3 million, and the number of subscribers to the 4.5G service increased rapidly since April 2016, when the service started, reaching 82.9 million by the end of 2022.

With the spread of 4.5G, the number of 3G subscribers decreased to 4 million 196 thousand 915. Mobile technologies are used not only for the communication of individuals, but also for the communication of machines with each other, and this service, which is expressed as machine-to-machine communication (M2M), has a growing structure in Turkey as well. The number of M2M subscribers, which was only 1.1 million in 2011, increased to 8.1 million by the end of 2022.

In the new period, efforts will continue to develop the internet infrastructure in accordance with world standards. In this context, it is aimed to deliver 100 Mbit/second internet service to every home.
5G technology will also be provided to cover the entire population. Studies on 6G technology will be started. Fiber broadband subscriber density will be made to cover all of Turkey in the long run.
The number of broadband subscribers reached 90.6 million
The number of both mobile and fixed broadband subscribers continued to increase, thanks to the fact that 4.5G service introduced citizens to much faster mobile internet and access to fiber became easier with investments in infrastructure. By the end of 2022, the total number of broadband subscribers reached 90.6 million.
With the studies carried out in this field, it is aimed for Turkey to be a pioneer in digital transformation, to reflect this on the welfare of the country and uninterrupted communication.
