Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) Edirne Regional Directorate announced the foreign trade statistics for May.
Accordingly, Tekirdağ became the prominent province in Thrace with its export and import figures.
Exports in Tekirdağ increased by 18.1 percent in May this year compared to the same month of 2022 and amounted to $282.8 million. Imports, on the other hand, increased by 10.6 percent and were recorded as $294.3 million.
Exports in Kırklareli reached 46 million dollars in May this year, increasing by 53.2 percent compared to the same month of 2022. Imports increased by 30.4 percent and amounted to 17.5 million dollars.
In Edirne, in May, exports increased by 55.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 8.6 million dollars. While there was an increase of 456.5 percent in imports, it reached 31.3 million dollars.
According to the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Tekirdağ made the most exports in iron and non-ferrous metals with 33 million 617 thousand dollars on a sectoral basis. 8 million 596 thousand dollars from Kırklareli and 2 million 596 thousand dollars from Edirne were exported in the grain, pulses, oilseeds and products sector.
A total of 343.1 million dollars of import was realized in Thrace in May.
