General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI), affiliated to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, announced the aircraft, passenger and cargo statistics for the month of June and January-June.
Accordingly, the number of passengers who preferred the airline in June was 21 million 1265. In the January-June period, 94 million 467 thousand 625 passengers used the airline.
The number of aircraft landing and taking off at environmentally and passenger-friendly airports reached 76 thousand 996 in domestic flights and 83 thousand 25 in international flights. In June, a total of 201,332 aircraft traffic took place with overpasses. Compared to the same month of the previous year, there was an increase of 4.2 percent in domestic air traffic, 15.4 percent in international air traffic and 12.6 percent in total air traffic, including overpasses.
Passenger traffic, which has drastically decreased worldwide and in the country during the COVID-19 pandemic, exceeded its 2019 June level in June. In the total passenger traffic, including the direct transit of the airports, 103 percent of the passenger traffic in June 2019 was realized in June of this year. In addition, 106 percent of the total aircraft traffic was reached in the same month, including overpasses.
In the said month, domestic passenger traffic was 8 million 507 thousand 530 and international passenger traffic was 12 million 473 thousand 34 at the airports serving throughout Turkey. Thus, a total of 21 million 265 passengers were served with direct transit passengers this month. Compared to the same month of the previous year, there was an increase of 14.2 percent in domestic passenger traffic, 16.3 percent in international passenger traffic, and 15.5 percent in total passenger traffic, including direct transit.
Airport freight (cargo, mail and baggage) traffic reached 78 thousand 795 tons in domestic flights, 305 thousand 157 tons in international flights, and a total of 383 thousand 952 tons in June.
Istanbul Airport served 6.7 million passengers in June
The aircraft traffic that took off and landed at Istanbul Airport in June reached 44 thousand 705, 12 thousand 445 on domestic lines and 32 thousand 260 on international lines.
A total of 6 million 745 thousand 686 passengers were served at this airport in June, 1 million 807 thousand 177 on domestic flights and 4 million 938 thousand 509 on international flights.
At Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, in June, the aircraft traffic landing and taking off is 9 thousand 527 on domestic lines, 10 thousand 691 on international lines, a total of 20 thousand 218, passenger traffic is 1 million 531 thousand 967 on domestic lines, 1 million 674 thousand 822 on international lines. A total of 3 million 206 thousand 789.
At Istanbul Atatürk Airport, where general aviation activities continue, 2 thousand 241 aircraft traffic took place in June.
Aircraft traffic in 6 months exceeded 786 thousand
In the January-June period, the aircraft traffic that took off and landed at the airports was 412 thousand 724 in domestic flights and 352 thousand 823 in international lines. Thus, a total of 987 thousand 375 aircraft traffic was recorded with overpasses. Compared to the same period of the previous year, domestic air traffic increased by 13.8 percent, international air traffic increased by 23.5 percent and total air traffic including overpasses increased by 20.2 percent.
In this period, when the domestic passenger traffic of the airports in Turkey was 42 million 532 thousand 180 and the international passenger traffic was 51 million 823 thousand 728, direct transit passengers and a total of 94 million 467 thousand 625 passengers were served. Compared to the same period of the previous year, there was an increase of 18.5 percent in domestic passenger traffic, 32 percent in international passenger traffic and 25.4 percent in total passenger traffic, including direct transit.
During the said period, airport freight (cargo, mail and baggage) traffic reached a total of 1 million 846 thousand 574 tons, of which 388 thousand 135 tons were on domestic flights and 1 million 458 thousand 438 tons on international flights.
A total of 243,364 aircraft, 63 thousand 587 on domestic flights and 179 thousand 777 on international flights, in 6 months at Istanbul Airport; A total of 35 million 819 thousand 986 passenger traffic was realized, 8 million 659 thousand 327 on domestic lines and 27 million 160 thousand 659 on international lines.
In this period, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport had a total of 107 thousand 418 aircraft traffic, of which 50 thousand 777 on domestic flights and 56 thousand 641 on international flights. A total of 16 million 940 thousand 357 passengers were served, 7 million 994 thousand 245 on domestic lines and 8 million 946 thousand 112 on international lines.
During the period in question, Istanbul Atatürk Airport had 12,356 aircraft traffic.
13 million 314 thousand 63 passengers were hosted at the airports in tourism centers in 6 months
In the said period, the number of passengers served at the airports in our tourism centers, where international traffic is heavy, was 7 million 810 thousand 399 on domestic lines, 13 million 31 thousand 63 on international lines, and 65 thousand 204 on domestic lines and 89 thousand 867 on international lines.
In the first 6 months, Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport served a total of 4 million 710 thousand 465 passengers, 3 million 171 thousand 997 on domestic lines and 1 million 538 thousand 468 on international lines.
A total of 12 million 870 thousand 273 passenger traffic was realized at Antalya Airport, of which the number of domestic passengers was 2 million 871 thousand 147, and the number of international passengers was 9 million 999 thousand 126.
At Muğla Dalaman Airport, the number of domestic passengers was 680 thousand 275, the number of international passengers was 1 million 132 thousand 264, and the total passenger traffic was 1 million 812 thousand 539.
Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport served a total of 1 million 388 thousand 951 passengers, 861 thousand 883 on domestic flights and 527 thousand 68 on international flights.
Gazipaşa Alanya Airport had a total of 342 thousand 234 passenger traffic, with 225 thousand 97 domestic passengers and 117 thousand 137 international passengers.
