At the opening, the BIST 100 index increased by 42.25 points compared to the previous close and increased by 0.63 percent to 6,730.03 points.

The banking index increased by 0.34 percent and the holding index increased by 0.56 percent. Among the sector indices, sports with 8.04 percent gained the most, while the only losers were securities and investment partnerships with 1.23 percent.

The BIST 100 index, which followed a fluctuating course on Friday, completed the day at 6,687.78 points with a value gain of 0.08 percent, and realized the highest daily and weekly close of all time.

Analysts stated that global stock markets started the week cautiously when the monetary policy decisions of the US, European and Japanese central banks will be announced, adding that the impact of the inflation and recession dilemma on asset prices continues.

Stating that the monetary policy decisions of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) to be announced on Wednesday and the guidance given by Fed Chairman Jerome Powell after the meeting are placed in the focus of investors, analysts said that there are still question marks about whether the Bank will put an end to its “hawk” steps as of this meeting.

While it is considered certain that the Fed will increase the policy rate by 25 basis points in pricing in money markets, it is predicted that the policy rate will be kept constant with 81 percent probability at the meeting on 20 September.

Analysts stated that domestic eyes were on the 3rd Inflation Report of the year to be announced by Hafize Gaye Erkan, the President of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) this week, and emphasized that messages from Erkan’s verbal guidance could increase volatility in domestic markets.

Stating that today, the financial services confidence index in the country and the manufacturing industry and services sector Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) data to be announced worldwide will be followed, the analysts noted that, technically, the 6,800 and 6,900 levels in the BIST 100 index are in the position of resistance, and the 6,600 and 6,500 points are in the support position.
