Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of DKİB, said that 1106 tons of anchovy were exported from Turkey in 7 months of the year.

Stating that an income of 7 million 33 thousand 153 dollars was obtained from the export in question, Gürdoğan stated that the export of anchovy decreased by 3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, which earned 6 million 315 thousand 788 dollars in return for 1145 tons, and increased by 11 percent in income.

Noting that anchovy found buyers in 24 countries this period, Gürdoğan said, “France, Belgium and the USA were the 3 countries to which anchovy was exported the most. This period was 2 million 729 thousand 791 to France, 2 million 88 thousand 187 to Belgium and USA. Anchovy was sold for 660 thousand 125 dollars,” he said.

Noting that anchovy was exported to Sweden, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Moldova, Malaysia and Somalia different from the same period last year, Gürdoğan stated that although the anchovy season is over, some companies continue to export their products until the beginning of the new season.

Gürdoğan stated that the amount of products caught in anchovy in the 2022-2023 season remained low, and said that it is important to implement practices that will allow anchovy to reach a large size and become abundant by introducing a one-season fishing ban with strict control.
