According to the “Natural Gas Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority for June, approximately 1 billion 870 million 38 thousand cubic meters of imports were made through pipelines and 462 million 4 thousand cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities.

Natural gas imports through pipelines decreased by 42.9 percent in June compared to the same month of the previous year, and LNG imports decreased by 17.7 percent. Total natural gas imports decreased by 39.2 percent in this period and became approximately 2 billion 332 million 420 thousand cubic meters.

While the most natural gas import was from Azerbaijan with 743 million 680 thousand cubic meters in June, this country was followed by Russia with 707 million 520 thousand cubic meters and Iran with 419 million cubic meters.

Natural gas imports from Russia decreased by 58.1 percent and imports from Iran by 50.9 percent, while natural gas imports from Azerbaijan increased by approximately 2 percent.


Gas consumption of houses increased by 78.1 percent

In the said period, natural gas consumption in the country decreased by 15.5 percent and became approximately 2 billion 571 million cubic meters.

The natural gas consumption of the industrial sector decreased by 20.3 percent and was recorded as approximately 911 million cubic meters. Natural gas consumption in power plants decreased by 60.2 percent to 377 million 870 thousand cubic meters.

Natural gas consumption in residences increased by 78.1 percent in this period and reached 687 million 680 thousand cubic meters.


Natural gas stock increased

The amount of natural gas stock in Turkey increased by 80.1 percent in June compared to the same month of the previous year and reached approximately 4 billion 908 million cubic meters.

4 billion 503 million cubic meters (91.7%) of natural gas stock is in underground storage facilities, 404.7 million cubic meters (8.2%) is in LNG terminals.
