Fishermen operating in Istanbul prepared for the new season by repairing their boats and nets before the end of the fishing ban on 1 September.
In this context, fishermen who repair their boats and nets will leave their nets in the sea by saying “vira bismillah” two days later.
Fisherman Kenan Balcı said that they foresee four types of fish to be caught in the sea in September: anchovy, bonito, horse mackerel and sardines.
Stating that the opening of the season will reflect well on the fish prices, Balcı said, “All ships are rushing to fish by saying ‘vira bismillah.’ Everyone is ready. All our preparations have been made. We are waiting for September 1,” he said.
Balcı also advised the citizens to buy as much fish as they can consume daily.
