According to the statement made by the Ministry of Commerce, customs enforcement teams, within the framework of risk analysis studies carried out within the scope of the fight against smuggling, scrutinized the truck that came to Kapıkule Customs Gate to enter Turkey.

Suspicious concentrations were detected in the truck that was directed to the X-ray scan. Thereupon, the truck was subjected to a physical search. 5,338 auto spare parts, hidden in white sacks, were seized in the lower part of the trailer of the vehicle.

The market value of auto spare parts was determined to be 21 million 347 thousand liras in total.

The investigation into the incident continues before the Edirne Public Prosecutor’s Office.
