The BIST 100 index, which fluctuated in the first half of the day, increased by 15.67 points compared to the previous close, reaching 8,162.16 as of 13:00. Total transaction volume amounted to 64.2 billion liras.
The banking index lost 1.02 percent and the holding index lost 0.38 percent. Among the sector indices, the one that gained the most was communication with 3.10 percent, and the one that lost the most was mining with 2.84 percent.
Analysts stated that a positive trend was observed in global stock markets yesterday, as the rise led by technology stocks in the USA spread to the whole, and said that investors were relatively more cautious today.
Analysts stated that the impact of the supply cuts in the energy sector may be seen in the inflation data to be announced tomorrow, and emphasized that if inflation exceeds expectations, the possibility of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) increasing interest rates by the end of the year may increase.
Analysts reminded that the pricing in the money markets is certain that the Fed will leave the policy rate constant at the September meeting, and stated that it remains unclear what path the Bank will follow in the November meeting.
Analysts noted that technically, 8,200 and 8,200 levels in the BIST 100 index are resistance and 8,000 points are support.
