Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Deputy Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, said that 3 thousand 832 tons of tea were exported from the country in 8 months.
Emphasizing that 18 million 493 thousand dollars of income was obtained from the said foreign sales, Gürdoğan stated that exports increased by 22 percent in value compared to the same period of the previous year.
Gürdoğan stated that Belgium, the USA and the United Kingdom are the countries where the most tea is sold.
Noting that Turkish tea was sold to 110 countries, autonomous and free zones in 8 months, Gürdoğan stated that 43 percent of the country’s exports were made from Rize.
Stating that tea was exported to 31 countries, autonomous and free zones from Rize in the January-August period, Gürdoğan said, “7 million 985 thousand 147 dollars of income was obtained from 2 thousand 472 tons of tea exports from Rize. In the same period last year, 2 thousand 206 tons of tea exports were made.” “An income of 5 million 715 thousand 232 dollars was achieved. Exports from Rize increased by 12 percent in quantity and 40 percent in value.” he said.
