Tozlu, who lives in Altıca Village in the center, founded a mushroom cultivation facility in 2022 with the support of the Agriculture and Rural Development Support Institution (TKDK).
Tozlu markets the cultivated mushrooms that he produces at the facility on his 1.5 hectares of land to Giresun and surrounding provinces.
Mehmet Tozlu said that he was looking for an agricultural product investment in Giresun during the epidemic.
Tozlu, 47, said that as a result of his research, he found that there was a gap in mushroom production in Giresun and the Eastern Black Sea region and that he decided to invest in this area.
“We don’t have any market problems”
Tozlu, who has also worked as an architect for 24 years, said that with the support of ARDSI, he built a building with 6 rooms of 120 square meters each on his property.
Tozlu, a father of five, said: “We produce at the facility using the latest technologies. Our production is carried out entirely using special systems and machines.”
Stating that five people work at the facility, two of them permanent and three of them seasonal, and family members also provide support, Tozlu said:
“We produce 60 tonnes per year. We don’t have any market problems. We ship our products to surrounding provinces, especially Giresun. We expect a yield of 100 tons in 2024. Our goal is to further increase our production volume in the coming years.”
